Architecture of viral replication factories

Compartmentalization of intracellular membrane is a marked characteristic during the pathogenesis of many viruses, which provides a microenvironment for virus to evade the host RNA interference defense response on one hand, and confines various host factors as well as metabolites in a stable space so that they can act in concert to complete virus replication cycle [1]. Recently, advanced imagin...

Architecture Analysis in Software Factories

In this paper, we argue for the incorporation of architecture analysis techniques in Software Factories. While software factories often rely on a domain-specific (or product-line specific) architecture, frequently there are some architectural alternatives left open. In these situations, architectural analysis, static or dynamic is essential. The paper elaborates these concepts and shows an exam...

Smart Factories – Self-Organizing Production Units

Within the framework of the German Government’s High-Tech strategy, the Industry 4.0 initiative was created, aiming to develop the “Smart Factory”. The approach assumes increased automation and a transparent, user-centred Production Planning and Scheduling. The “intelligent components” communicate with people and systems independently and find the optimal route through production.

An Architecture for Self-Replicating Lunar Factories

The concept of self-replicating machines wasintroduced more than fifty years ago by John von Neumann. However, to our knowledge a fully autonomous self-replicatingrobot has not been implemented until now. Here we describe afully autonomous prototype that demonstrates robotic selfreplication. This work builds on our previous results in remote-controlled robotic replication...
